Saturday August 10th is Topps National Baseball Card Day.
This will be the fourth straight year for this celebration of card collecting. You can get a free special pack of cards by going to a participating card shop in Canada and the United States. The number of cards per pack will be the same as last year, (five card pack). This makes it extremely hard to complete the set which was one card for each team for a total of 30 cards last year. However, in 2018 there were also 26 randomly inserted autograph cards. In the past the set featured superstars and younger players. Other than the free pack you can also get a special Bryce Harper card with a $10 purchase. There will be a second card available on August 17th. This will be a Vladimir Guerrero Jr card that will also only be available for a $10 purchase. The cards are expected to have a NBCD logo. If that is not enough card options, MLB will also be having a card giveaway at stadiums across the country between July 21st and August 16th. No word if these cards will be the same.

National Baseball Card Day will expand a little this year with WalMart and Target retail stores getting in on the promotion. They both will offer a free gift with purchase. At Target, you will get a free pack of Series 2 Baseball with purchase of $10 or more of Topps products. You need to go to the Topps website to get a coupon for this. At WalMart, you will get a free preview pack of Topps Gallery inserted into a Bowman Platinum Hanger Pack. Each Topps Gallery card will have a Topps National Baseball Card Day stamp.
